More decisive than anyone at Arsenal, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang defeated Liverpool with a goal in the 12th minute and with the decisive penalty in the final shoot-out that broke the tie to enlarge Arsenal and Mikel Arteta with the Community Shield title, the second of his team this August.
He scored the two goals with which Arsenal beat Chelsea to win the last FA Cup. And he scored the goal with which his team felt capable of beating Liverpool, no matter how much he later equaled his opponent, today by Above in resources, benefits and possibilities that the ‘gunner’ team, who won in the ten shots from 11 meters: he did not miss any, effective in each of them, and his rival did miss one, repelled by the crossbar.
The last one, with all the pressure that this entails, with a goalkeeper of Alisson’s level in front – considered the best goalkeeper of the past year – was hosted by Aubameyang next to the post, unattainable for the Brazilian goalkeeper and definitive to reaffirm the evident growth of the Arsenal from under the direction of Mikel Arteta.

Community Shield match, played at Wembley Stadium in London without an audience.
He has returned the winning gene to Arsenal. In a month he has won two titles (the FA Cup on August 1 and the Community Shield on Saturday). His team had not achieved it for three years, in 2017, when he also linked the same trophies. And the merit of the Spanish coach is as unquestionable as it is undeniable.
He has prepared his team to compete with absolute determination. There are no doubts in that regard. Neither in how he approached the match nor in how he disturbed Liverpool, which he overflowed the first half hour with a mechanism that requires a lot of skill: the counterattack. Then he held it firmly and drew back.
It has a lot of merit, like the counterattack, which needs precision, speed, daring and definition. Out of all this came 1-0 in the 12th minute. It was scored by Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, whose offensive figures for the English team express and emphasize his indispensable condition in the team: 71 goals in 110 official matches.
The action of the Gabonese striker had both inspiration and permissiveness from Liverpool. Giving so much space to a footballer of his stature is an unaffordable concession for any team, because when someone of his qualities has so much room to set up his shot, what happened this Saturday usually happens: 1-0 in the 12th minute.
He also discovered Liverpool’s problem in his withdrawal. When his precision is impeccable, when he finds the ways to attack on his sides or when he handles the ball with the determination that he does on many occasions in the opposite field, he is nothing more punctual. When you make mistakes, it is an invitation to the rival.
It was accepted by Arsenal during the first half hour, not only because of Aubameyang’s goal, but because Liverpool did not shoot at goal in 45 minutes and because Saka moved as he wanted between the lines to structure and lead each counterattack. The first was a goal; the second pretended it to Alisson’s stop to Nketiah. A practical, intelligent and solvent meeting … With hardly any possession.
Because Arsenal, very well instructed by Mikel Arteta on the board, perfectly read the staging for a duel of the complexity that it was facing, because it is the start of the course and because the imposing Liverpool is in front. He knew where, how and when to put his offensive mechanisms in motion, with a counterattack that at times exposed Klopp’s block.
But not even as many doubts as it generated are enough to defeat a team like Liverpool, whose capacity is unlimited. And when he achieves his game, there is hardly anyone who can withstand the gale that he proposes with the ball; on the wings, in the middle, on any side that opens a path to his tireless goal: attack and goal.
It was not an excessive amount of occasions, much less, there were not even as many as the ‘red’ team intended, but the pressure, stalking and stress to which it subjects its opponent is such that the goal always seems a matter of seconds or millimeters: Emi Martínez retained 1-0 against Mané and Minamino made it 1-1.
A draw with a quarter of an hour from the end for insistence … And fortunately. The latter is more likely if the former exists. And Liverpool had tried at all times and by all means. That does not mean that the play started as a wall and ended as a noise, whose rejection enabled Minamino against Emi Martínez. The Argentine goalkeeper, later, saved his team, again against Mane.
Without extension, the resolution was left for penalties. First Salah scored for Liverpool, then Reiss Nelson equalized, Fabinho scored the 1-2, Maitland-Niles made it 2-2 … And Brewster, who had entered in the 92nd minute, almost right for penalties, sent his shot to the crossbar. Later, Cedric Soares made it 3-2 for Arsenal, Minamino 3-3, David Luiz 4-3, Jones 4-4 and everything was at the expense of the last, the final, of Aubameyang. It did not fail.
