Cronulla and Gold Coast eliminated speculation surrounding Andrew Fifita-to-Tians’ potential move, as reported by The Daily Telegraph.
Wednesday revealed that the sharks could try to dump Fifita in one move to ease their wage limit situation, which could help facilitate Jai Arrow’s move south to this season.
The NRL rumor went overdrive after Mitchell signed with Rabbitoh earlier in the week, as a number of players were connected to rival teams.
But Cronulla coach John Morris said Fifita was not on the market, stating that the club is looking for a replacement for the rowing machine for Matt Prior.
So, Fifita’s departure would make no sense.
“We are not pushing anyone out the door,” said Morris.
Mal Meninga, head of culture and performance on the Gold Coast, was also surprised by Fifita’s speech.
“But this is a new one for me,” said Meninga. “It’s a beauty but no, we will be with Jai for 2020. There is no progress to be honest with you.”
