The Andy Murray – Serena Williams doubles won against Raquel Atawo and Fabrice Martin in straight sets (7-5, 6-3) to advance to the knockout stages of Wimbledon.
Scotsman Andy Murray and American Serena Williams reached the knockout stages of Wimbledon after their success on Tuesday against Raquel Atawo and Fabrice Martin in mixed doubles.
The American-French pair was beaten in two sets (7-5, 6-3) and just under two hours. Murray and Williams will face Brazilian Bruno Soares and American Nicole Melichar, seeded N.1 of the tournament, in the next round.
Absent from the short for six months following a hip operation, Murray, 32, made his comeback at the Queen's tournament, winning alongside Feliciano Lopez.
At Wimbledon, his run in doubles, with Frenchman Pierre-Hughes Herbert, stopped in the second round. Serena Williams, she is now only two victories of eternity, two victories to pocket her 8th title in London and his 24th major trophy, an absolute record.
