On this day in 1983, was born Russian gymnast, Olympic champion, public figure Alina Kabaeva.
Alina has been practicing artistic gymnastics since the age of three and a half. Since 1995, she began to train with the famous Irina Wiener. In 1996, the gymnast became a member of the Russian national team. She won her first European championship at the age of 15, and at 16 she became a world champion.

In 2007-2014, she was a State Duma deputy from the United Russia party. Under her patronage, the telephone hotline for schoolchildren on the Unified State Examination worked in the 2008 and 2009 examinations.
In 2008, Kabaeva was elected chairman of the Public Council of the National Media Group holding, and after completing her parliamentary activities in 2014, she decided to take the post of chairman of the board of directors of this holding. Since 2016 he has headed the Board of Directors of Sport-Express CJSC.
She is also the head of the Alina Kabaeva Charity Foundation, which is involved in various community and charity projects and organizing a children's rhythmic gymnastics festival.
