Triplet by Luciano Acosta leads to D.C. United to an unforgettable win over Orlando

The Argentine Luciano Acosta shone in the 3-2 triumph of D.C. United over Orlando City in one of the most emotional games of the season. Acosta scored a treble in a frantic game, which seemed to end in a draw. The category of Wayner Rooney and the magic of the Argentine combined for a triumph that fans will remember for a long time. The end of the first half was decisive for the rest of the game. A combination of Acosta with Rooney led to the opening of the scoreboard thanks to a rifle from the Argentine.
Orlando came into the tie in his first attack of the second with an own goal by David Ousted after an overflow from the right.
The visit had little time to celebrate as Cristian Higuita would be sent off in the 55th minute for a foul without a ball to Yamil Asad. Accosta made his second of the afternoon in the 64th minute when he arrived over the limit to an Assad center on the left. The goal was validated by the VAR.
The local team did not know how to preserve the advantage and allowed Dom Dwyer to tie the match in a counterattack.
Everything seemed to lead to a final draw, but Rooney's category appeared to decide the game. A punt by Orlando on a corner kick left the United goal open because Ousted had gone to pitch. Will Johnson was left alone on the counterattack, but hesitated when Rooney's mark arrived. The English cleared it of the ball, advanced a few meters and threw a center to the head of Acosta for the both of the victory and the madness in the Audi Field.D.C. United hosts Portland Timbers on Wednesday and New England Revolution on Saturday. Those from Florida receive Atlanta United over the weekend.
