Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua is on track to return for Sunday’s Week 4 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles after missing two consecutive games with hip, groin, and psoas injuries, according to head coach Sean McVay.
Sean McVay Expects Wide Receiver Puka Nacua Back at Practice
Nacua participated in practice on Wednesday in a limited capacity, marking his first on-field work since aggravating his injuries prior to Week 2. When asked by reporters if he anticipates having his pass catcher available for Sunday’s kickoff in Philadelphia, McVay gave a direct assessment. “I do,” McVay told reporters. McVay added that Nacua “had a good workout on Sunday and a good walkthrough just now,” noting the team is “excited to be able to have him back.” McVay also mentioned that Nacua was dealing with groin and hip soreness that was “like pre-hernia” with some of the pain felt.
Addressing Contract Rumors Surrounding the Missed Games
During Nacua’s two-game absence—which forced him to miss five straight practices after he originally got hurt in practice before Week 2—some observers speculated that his time away from the team was related to his contract status. Because Nacua has not yet signed an extension with the Rams despite being in the final year of his contract, some spread the rumor that he was quietly holding out. McVay firmly dismissed that speculation during an interview on ESPN Los Angeles, stating Yeah, it’s not true,
and explaining that Nacua just did a great job with our walkthrough. He’s been working, chomping at the bit to get back out there with his teammates and this week, we expect him to be out there.
How the Rams Offense Adjusted Without Nacua
With Nacua sidelined, veteran receiver Davante Adams stepped into an expanded role. Stafford said the team must get Nacua back, calling him one of the league's best receivers and praising his energy in the huddle.
Injury Report Complications Ahead of Week 4
The Rams enter Sunday’s game with a 1-2 record and several additional health concerns across the roster. Defensive lineman Aaron Donald missed Wednesday’s practice due to a sore back, though McVay characterized the absence as precautionary for the 35-year-old veteran. Safety Kamren Kinchens was also limited on Wednesday as he attempts to return from a two-game absence, while tight ends Terrence Ferguson and Colby Parkinson missed practice entirely, opening potential opportunities for rookie tight end Max Klare.
