The Turkcell Basketball Development Center has entered its third year of operation, marking its milestone anniversary with numerous youth matches played and high-profile domestic and international fixtures hosted since its doors opened with the 37th Turkish President’s Cup, according to the Turkish Basketball Federation.
Two-Year Milestone and Match Volumes
Opening its doors as a modern anchor for Turkish basketball, the facility has recorded activity across its courts. Federation records show that over 8,000 grassroots and youth matches have been contested in the venue’s auxiliary halls since the opening ceremony. Beyond hosting fixtures for the Ülker Basketball Youth League, the center established itself as a primary battleground for professional clubs competing in both domestic leagues and European competitions.
For the 2025–2026 domestic and European campaigns, Anadolu Efes and Galatasaray MCT Technic played their home fixtures at the center. The venue’s professional footprint expanded further for the 2026–2027 season, with both Anadolu Efes and Beşiktaş utilizing the arena to host their home matches in front of local supporters.
International Tournaments and Attendance Records
The facility has also emerged as a hub for national teams. During the summer period, the complex accommodated five different national team squads simultaneously across senior and youth age brackets for training camps and preparatory blocks.
International showcases have further elevated the venue’s profile. From August 26 to 29, the center hosted the Basketball Without Borders camp—a collaborative initiative organized by the NBA, FIBA, and the Turkish Basketball Federation. Marking its 25th anniversary with a newly introduced format, the camp brought 80 young basketball prospects from around the globe to Istanbul alongside 10 NBA players and 8 coaches.
Among the venue’s most notable statistical achievements, a FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup semifinal matchup between Turkey and Serbia drew a crowd of 8,348 fans. Federation officials confirmed that the crowd established a spectator record for the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup.

The venue’s calendar has likewise accommodated high-profile continental showcases, including the FIBA Women’s SuperCup, senior national team windows, youth international tournaments, and qualifiers for the FIBA 2026 Women’s Basketball World Cup.
Educational Expansion and Heritage Preservation
Alongside elite competition, the center houses educational initiatives. The TBF Basketball High School, which commenced operations during the 2025–2026 academic year, has moved into its second educational cycle. Dedicated programming for coaches and club executives has run concurrently at the site, yielding 22 coaching courses, 2 international seminars, and 4 certification programs for coaches, alongside 4 courses, 3 international seminars, and 2 development seminars tailored for administrators.
The complex also integrated the Turkish Basketball Federation Library during its second year, establishing a dedicated archive intended to preserve historical records and resources of Turkish basketball for future generations.
