Guido Squillante has been selected by the Italian FIJLKAM national team to compete in the Under-21 men’s kumite -60 kg category at the upcoming World Karate Championships, headlining a dual selection from the town of Sarno alongside teammate Annachiara De Vivo.
National Team Selection and World Championship Schedule
The Italian Federation for Judo, Wrestling, Karate and Martial Arts (FIJLKAM) named Guido Squillante to its roster for the upcoming World Karate Championships, scheduled to take place from October 14 to 18 in Bielsko-Biała, Poland. Squillante will compete in the U21 kumite -60 kg division, representing Italy in the international WKF showcase for Cadet, Junior, and Under-21 competitors.
The 20-year-old karateka trains out of the Shirai Club S. Valentino in Sarno, Campania. His selection marks another milestone in a career that has established him as a regular fixture in the Italian national team setup across domestic and international circuits.
Alongside Squillante, fellow Sarno native Annachiara De Vivo earned a spot on the Italian roster for her first career World Championship appearance. The 15-year-old will compete in the Cadet women’s +61 kg kumite division, also representing the Shirai Club S. Valentino after advancing through the domestic FIJLKAM ranking lists.
International Track Record and European Medal Success
Squillante enters the tournament in Poland with an established international medal resume. In 2026, he secured a silver medal in the same U21 -60 kg category at the European youth championships in Limassol.
His previous accomplishments in national team colors include a junior world bronze medal in the -55 kg category, as well as two silver medals earned in international U21 competitions. He was also previously selected among the 38 Italian athletes sent to the Youth World Championships in Turkey.
The Sarno community has expressed strong support for both athletes as they prepare to travel to Poland for the mid-October competition.
Tournament Context in Bielsko-Biała
The World Championships in Bielsko-Biała bring together youth karate athletes from across the globe under World Karate Federation (WKF) regulations. Competition runs across five days from October 14 through October 18, featuring events for Cadets, Juniors, and Under-21s.
