The return of the Spanish national team to Asturias has generated a surge in public enthusiasm, driven in part by the centenary celebrations of Real Oviedo.
“The fans’ response to the Spain match has been brutal; there are no tickets left for sale,” Cuetos Lobo said, adding that such widespread national media impact has rarely been seen in the region for a fixture of this scale.

Off the pitch, the Asturian Football Federation has undergone significant administrative adjustments following the appointment of Javi Fuego as sporting director.
