Private Cologne Facility Built as an Investment

Pocher disclosed details about the private court during an appearance on the podcast “TOMorrow” with host Tom Junkersdorf. According to the 48-year-old entertainer, the facility cost approximately 50,000 euros to construct years ago. Pocher described the project as a deliberate financial investment in a hard court surface, which remains relatively uncommon for private residential properties in Germany.

Opting for a hard court over a traditional clay surface brought distinct practical advantages for the Cologne property. Unlike clay, the hard court requires significantly less ongoing maintenance. Local weather conditions allow for extended outdoor play compared to clay courts; Pocher noted that players can use the surface nearly year-round, often into late autumn.

Professional Tennis Players Use the Court for Training

The facility has occasionally served as a training base for top-tier international and national tennis competitors preparing for major tournaments. Pocher highlighted that Tim Pütz utilized the Cologne court for training sessions alongside his doubles partner Kevin Krawietz ahead of the US Open. Pütz and Krawietz subsequently reached the men’s doubles final at Flushing Meadows in September 2026, where they ultimately finished as runners-up to Christian Harrison and Neal Skupski with a score of 4:6, 6:7 (6:8).

Alongside Pütz, reigning Grand Slam standout Jannik Sinner has also practiced on the private court. Sinner’s connection to Pocher extends to public tennis events as well; Pocher and his daughter attended the Wimbledon final in July, where Sinner triumphed over Alexander Zverev.

Consulting and Residential Recreation

Beyond hosting professional training sessions, Pocher’s tennis infrastructure has drawn interest from other prominent public figures. The comedian noted that he advised former German national football team player Toni Kroos on court construction choices, specifically recommending the Rebound Ace hard court surface. Entertainer Giovanni Zarrella has also played on the Cologne court.

Despite hosting elite athletes, Pocher admitted that he personally plays less frequently now than in the past. He remarked in the podcast that the facility often doubles as a makeshift bicycle training area for his children, though he intends to pick up his racket more regularly in the future.
