Bahía Blanca Athletes Win Medals at South American Games

Figure Skating and Golf Successes

Representing El Nacional club and hailing from Saavedra, Rodríguez posted a total score of 209.67 points across his short and long programs, finishing ahead of local skater Donato Mastroianni, who scored 185.78 points. “I trained a lot to arrive well at this tournament and for everything to have gone excellently makes me very happy,” Rodríguez said after the competition.

In golf, Miguel Ángel Carballo earned a bronze medal in the team competition despite finishing eighth in the individual standings. Carballo’s total of 289 strokes combined with efforts from Segundo Oliva Pinto, women’s individual bronze medalist Ana Guliano, and Mía Yaya. Paraguay captured the mixed team gold at ten under par (-1), while Colombia took silver at two under (-2).

Archery and Softball Team Podiums

Bahía Blanca athletes secured four archery medals, all within team categories. Guillermina González took silver in the women’s compound team alongside Eugenia González Briozzo and Daniela Cheffer, following a 13th-place individual finish. Wanda Arca, born locally and now based in Neuquén, placed 22nd in the individual recurve event and contributed to a bronze medal for Argentina in the women’s team alongside Alma Pueyo López and María Giúdice.

Iván Nikolajuk, representing the Círculo Bahiense de Arquería, placed seventh in the individual compound event and earned two team medals: silver in the men’s compound team alongside Nelson Salinas and Lucas Garcés, and bronze in the mixed team alongside Eugenia González Briozzo.

Softball competition brought two podium finishes for local players. The women’s national team earned a bronze medal featuring Bahía Blanca natives Mariana Gororito and Florencia Salguero. Meanwhile, the men’s team reached the final undefeated before claiming the silver medal, with roster spots filled by local players Federico Olheiser and Nahuiel Sáenz.

Equestrian and Canoe Disciplines

Equestrian competitor Damián Ancic helped secure a silver medal for the Argentine team in jumping while riding Milenario Solaguayre, a performance that also sealed qualification for the country for the 2027 Pan American Games in Lima. Ancic chose not to start the final round of the individual competition, resulting in an 18th-place individual finish. “It is a pride to be able to represent the country and win a medal,” Ancic said.

Paddler Agustín Vernice, who grew up in Olavarría, claimed four gold medals during the Santa Fe events held on the Costanera Este. Vernice triumphed in the K4 500 meters alongside Vicente Vergauven, Gonzalo Carreras, and Rubén Rézola; the K2 500 with Carreras; the mixed K2 500 alongside Brenda Rojas; and the individual K1 1000 event.

In rugby sevens, Santiago Álvarez Fourcade served as a key contributor for Los Pumas 7s, who secured the gold medal finish without a single defeat throughout the tournament.

BMX Racing and International Schedule

Agustina Cavalli marked the sole exception among the city’s delegation to miss the podium, finishing fourth in women’s BMX Racing. “I was the fastest and couldn’t show it,” Cavalli said following the three final races. Following the event, Cavalli traveled to China to compete in rounds five and six of the World Cup alongside the national team.
