German national team playmaker Juri Knorr will join Paris Saint-Germain Handball ahead of the 2027/28 season, marking a significant transfer for the French club. The 26-year-old, currently playing for Danish side Aalborg Håndbold, has signed a three-year contract that will keep him in the French capital through 2030. The move pairs Knorr with fellow German international Renars Uscins, who previously announced his own transfer to PSG for the same season.
A Record-Breaking Exit from Aalborg
Aalborg Håndbold confirmed the departure of Knorr, who was originally under contract with the Danish club until 2028. Team manager Martin Larsen described the deal as a “record transfer” for the organization, noting that while the exact figures remain undisclosed, the move represents the largest transaction in the club’s history.
Larsen emphasized that the club had no desire to retain a player whose future plans lay elsewhere. “We have no interest in holding onto a player who has other plans for the future,” Larsen stated. The influx of capital from the buyout is expected to be reinvested into the club’s sporting and economic development. Knorr, who joined Aalborg in 2025, has appeared in 61 matches for the team, scoring 266 goals. During his tenure, he helped the club secure both a Danish league title and a cup victory.
PSG’s Strategic Ambitions
The addition of Knorr and Uscins to the Paris Saint-Germain roster signals a major push for the club, which has dominated the French domestic league with 12 titles but has yet to secure a Champions League trophy. Thierry Omeyer, the former world-class goalkeeper and current Managing Director at PSG, cited Knorr’s vision, goal-scoring threat, and leadership qualities as key assets for the squad.
