The federal agency's account shared the message in response to reports from another profile regarding a large caravan of migrants approaching the southern border of the United States. Accompanying the text was a video clip displaying heavy hits delivered by Dawkins on the field, punctuated by the caption "Our time has come."
Brian Dawkins and NFL Responses
Brian Dawkins, renowned as one of the most physical defensive backs of his era, stated that he never granted permission for the federal agency to publish the video. In a written message to ESPN, the Hall of Fame member addressed the unauthorized usage directly. "Very respectfully, I did not give my authorization," wrote Dawkins, who retired in 2012 and was inducted into the hall in 2018. Despite the league's request, the post remained active on the platform.
Precedent Involving White House Social Media Video
This incident follows an earlier occurrence in March, when the White House published a digital video alternating between hard-hitting plays from the NFL and the NCAA and footage of airstrikes targeting Iranian targets. That release arrived shortly after United States forces destroyed a primary school in southern Iran, an event that Amnesty International reported resulted in the deaths of more than 100 children. When questioned about the March publication, the NFL declined to state whether it asked the administration to remove those football clips. That video also remains accessible on social media.
