The Pustertal valley dominated the final stage of the South Tyrolean Rodeo Series by Waterdrop in Tramin, capturing three out of four tournament titles across the weekend’s competition. Following seven preliminary rounds across the region, the top eight players in each category advanced to the Masters finale, which offered category-three winners direct tickets to the ATP Finals in Turin.
Pustertal Players Lead the Field in Tramin
Under summer-like conditions in Tramin, athletes from the eastern part of South Tyrol established a commanding presence throughout the tournament. While competitors from across the region gathered for the autumn showdown, players representing Pustertal clubs secured the vast majority of the division titles. Only one championship trophy escaped the valley’s grasp during the weekend event.
ASV St. Lorenzen Controls Category Three Men
The men’s third category division evolved into an internal showcase for ASV St. Lorenzen. Thomas Bachlechner advanced past Markus Beggiato in the semifinals, while top-seeded Thomas Toniatti defeated Giovanni Passoni to set up an all-Pustertal title match.
Toniatti maintained control for much of the final against his club teammate Bachlechner. Despite a late push from Bachlechner, Toniatti closed out the match 4:0, 5:3 to succeed Andrea Arnoldi of TC Meran as the tournament champion. FITP South Tyrol President Marco Cordaro, Thomas Berger, Armin Leiter, and SRS boss Pietro Baruchello watched the final from the stands.
Verena Stolzlechner Defends Women’s Title
Verena Stolzlechner defended her title in the women’s third category without dropping a set across three matches. She defeated Stefanie Fleckinger 4:2, 4:1 in the final to secure her second championship and earn a ticket to the ATP Finals in Turin. Following the match, Stolzlechner gave her personally purchased tickets for the Turin semifinals and final to her opponent, Fleckinger.
Heidi Elizabeth Moser Wins Fourth Category
Representing the val Gardena tennis family, Heidi Elizabeth Moser claimed the fourth category women’s title on Sunday. After advancing through the quarterfinals and semifinals without losing a single game, Moser faced Vanessa Lagg of ASV Partschins in a closely contested final. Moser secured a 5:4 victory in the opening set before taking the second 4:1 to capture the championship for TC Urtijei.
“I played well and believed that I could win,” Moser said following her victory. “That was decisive in the tiebreak, even when I was behind. I tried to stay patient and make the point at the right moment. I really wanted to get the tickets for Turin. Now I am happy that I made it and am allowed to go to Turin.”
Philipp Piffrader Rallies in Men’s Fourth Category
In the men’s fourth category, Alexander Rossi of ATC Auer reached the final after a strong run of consistent performances. Rossi took the opening set 5:3, but Philipp Piffrader of ASV St. Lorenzen adjusted his tactics to turn the match around. Piffrader won the second set 4:1 and claimed the deciding Champions-Tiebreak 7:2, securing a 3:5, 4:1, 7:2 victory to earn the third Pustertal title of the weekend.
