Maresa Mößler captured the under-15 girls’ premier-class title at the North Bavarian Judo Championships on Saturday, September 26, 2026, leading a contingent of five fighters from SV Mühlhausen who traveled to Vohenstrauß to compete against athletes from 38 clubs across the region.
Dominant Run to the Championship Gold
Competing in the afternoon session, Mößler finished every contest before the regulation time elapsed. Records from the tournament show she needed barely four minutes of mat time across four bouts to dispatch her opponents, finishing every contest before the regulation 12 minutes elapsed. Her toughest test came in the final against DJK Würzburg’s Julia Gabriel, a competitor two years older holding a brown belt. Mößler secured the gold medal in just over a minute by executing her hold-down technique, known as Kesa-Gatame.
The victory extends a remarkable run of form for Mößler, who navigated the entire competition series last year without suffering a single defeat. Teammate Sophia Corlateanu joined her in the under-15 girls’ division, picking up one victory to finish in fifth place overall.
Mixed Fortunes for the SV Mühlhausen Boys
While the girls’ squad thrived, the boys’ side endured a difficult outing in Vohenstrauß. Only Simon Mößler managed to win his opening match, after which he fell to older and heavier opponents. He finished ninth, missing out on qualification for the upcoming Bavarian championships. Toni Kayser received a bye into the second round, where he dropped his match against runner-up Max Bauer before finishing ninth in the repechage.
Ben Bratfisch faced similar misfortune. Following a late illness scare that cast doubt on his participation, Bratfisch battled through the repechage before bowing out to David Kbiltsetskhlashvili, rounding out a ninth-place finish. Tournament regulations required a top-seven finish to punch a ticket to the state-level championship.
Team Standings and Upcoming Schedule
Despite the challenges faced by the boys’ division, strong performances from the female competitors propelled SV Mühlhausen to an eighth-place finish in the overall North Bavarian club standings. Among clubs representing the Upper Palatinate region, SV Mühlhausen claimed third place.
The judoka must quickly turn their attention to the next major competition. The Bavarian Championship is scheduled for October 3, 2026, in Abensberg, followed by the Kreisrandorimeisterschaft for beginners in Parsberg on October 4, 2026.
