The newly elected executive committee of the Congolese Baseball Federation, known as Fecobase, plans to introduce and establish baseball across all 26 provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo during a four-year mandate spanning from 2026 to 2030. Kolbe Kulefa assumed the federation’s presidency following an extraordinary general elective assembly held on Sunday in Kinshasa.
The leadership transition concluded with a unanimous vote confirming all 13 members of the new executive committee. A representative and head of division from the Ministry of Sports and Loisirs supervised the proceedings and immediately invested the incoming officials into their respective roles, extending official congratulations and wishing the bureau success in its development goals.
Addressing the federation’s future direction, Kulefa outlined a strategy focused on geographic expansion and grassroots integration. The core objective centers on establishing the sport nationwide to secure international recognition.
“Our major challenge, during this four-year term, lies in the strategic establishment of baseball across the 26 provinces of the DRC,” Kulefa stated. “By structuring this approach, our ambition is to actively promote this discipline, in order to offer it nationwide reach while sustainably positioning the DRC on the international sports stage.”
To achieve this reach, the federation plans to target educational institutions, introducing baseball programs directly into Congolese schools and universities. Kulefa emphasized that embedding the sport within academic environments is essential to building a popular and accessible base for youth development across the country.
“To succeed in this mission, our committee will unite its forces to carry out this project, dedicated to the fulfillment of Congolese youth,” Kulefa added. “Through this project, our ambition is also to establish the practice of baseball at the heart of Congolese schools and universities, in order to make it a popular and accessible sport throughout the DRC.”
