Buffalo Bills wide receiver DJ Moore will play in Sunday's Week 3 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. Moore cleared recovery following a shoulder injury sustained during Week 2, joining active wide receiver Keon Coleman and returning defensive tackle Ed Oliver on the field.
The Buffalo Bills cleared a major offensive hurdle ahead of Sunday’s kickoff against the Los Angeles Chargers as wide receiver DJ Moore received clearance to play through a shoulder injury.
Shoulder Injury and Week 2 Win Over the Detroit Lions
Moore sustained an AC joint sprain during the team’s Week 2 win over the Detroit Lions, an exit that immediately placed his availability in question following a limited start to the season. After missing Thursday’s practice with the shoulder injury he suffered last week against the Lions, the star receiver returned to practice on Friday, giving him a chance to suit up in this matchup.
Ahead of Sunday’s game, Moore participated in two limited practice sessions before receiving a questionable designation. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Sunday morning that Moore would suit up. NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe put his chances of playing at 50/50, and also noted that Moore will need an injection in order to play.
Practice Recovery and Game-Day Clearance
Speaking with reporters after a Friday practice session, Moore admitted that he needs to check a few more boxes
to be in the lineup on Sunday. Still, the wideout said he was feeling good after Friday’s session, stating that all signs were good signs.
When asked if he was good to go Sunday, Moore replied, We shall see….[need to] check a few more boxes & then we’re good.
The boxes include stability and simulated contact.
I felt great. We still gotta go through some things, but we gonna be good.
Following limited participation in practice due to a shoulder issue, head coach Joe Brady stated on Friday that Moore’s status will be decided at game time. Brady said he will give Moore and Coleman all the way through till game time,
adding that he has confidence in both players when they are ready to go. Later, Adam Schefter of ESPN verified that the experienced pass catcher was anticipated to take the field, extending an impressive streak of availability wherein Moore has not sat out a contest since his 2020 campaign with the Carolina Panthers during his third professional season. From that point onward, he has appeared in 90 consecutive matches, a span highlighted by an impressive opening performance for the Bills featuring five receptions for 100 yards and a score.
Supporting Cast and Defensive Reinforcements
With Moore’s status initially uncertain, the Buffalo offense relies on established depth to maintain production. Keon Coleman, dealing with an ankle injury, will also be active for Buffalo. During the Thursday Night Football matchup against the Detroit Lions, Coleman picked up his ankle injury but managed to keep playing through it. Stepping in after the Bills’ primary pass-catcher left the contest with a shoulder problem, he secured six catches for 63 yards during the squad’s 41-31 victory. Both receivers could be on a pitch count on Sunday.

Los Angeles Chargers and Buffalo Bills Inactives List
The active designation list also brings defensive relief to the home sideline as the Bills will get defensive tackle Ed Oliver back in the lineup. Having sustained a hip injury during prewarming workouts, Oliver sat out the Lions contest and carried a questionable tag alongside Moore and wide receiver Keon Coleman. Meanwhile, rookie wide receiver Skyler Bell found himself inactive as Buffalo finalizes its 3-0 ambitions at home against an 0-2 Chargers roster. Chargers at sleek matchup features Chargers inactives: S Elijah Molden, QB DJ Uiagalelei, OL Alex Harkey, G Kayode Awosika, TE Charlie Kolar, WR Brenen Thompson, DT Dalvin Tomlinson, alongside Bills inactives: WR Skyler Bell, OL Jude Bowry, OL Ar’maj Reed-Adams, DL T.J. Sanders, LB Mike Danna, S Jalon Kilgore. Backup quarterback Trey Lance is active for the Chargers, and DJ Uiagalelei was summoned from the practice squad as insurance after Lance was listed as questionable, though there will be no change behind Justin Herbert.
