The Budo-Club Hikari Lauffen introduced its first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training sessions for children aged six to 11, marking a notable milestone for the organization as it expands its grappling programs.
A New Chapter for Budo-Club Hikari Lauffen
Budo-Club Hikari Lauffen expanded its martial arts curriculum to include Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for children between the ages of six and 11, beginning with a historic opening session on Friday, September 18. The launch represents a significant expansion for the club, which has operated in Lauffen for 48 years.
In recent years, the club established BJJ classes for adolescents and adults, an initiative spearheaded by Marcel Korn. Building on that foundation, club leadership introduced the youth division ahead of the current season to accommodate younger practitioners interested in the discipline.
Understanding Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a ground-fighting martial art rooted in South America. Recognized widely as an evolution of traditional disciplines like judo and ju-jutsu, BJJ focuses heavily on grappling, mechanical advantage, and submission holds rather than striking.
The introduction of the youth class broadens the martial arts pathways available locally, complementing the club’s established offerings in judo and ju-jutsu across all age categories.
