“To all the health experts and professional physique commentators, I am not taking Ozempic,” Anisimova wrote on social media. “Please leave me alone and keep me out of your unique posts.”
The current world No. 11 has frequently encountered harsh scrutiny regarding her appearance throughout her professional career. She previously responded to an online user who labeled her “too fat” and has repeatedly voiced frustration over intense digital focus directed at her body.
The Mental Toll of Constant Online Scrutiny
Following the Madrid tournament in 2023, Anisimova highlighted the relentless digital attention directed at athletes. “I will never understand the amount of people who comment on my body every single day on social media, why are they so fixated on it?” she stated at the time.
The persistent criticism prompted the American player to take a temporary break from professional tennis to protect her mental health. Reflecting on the ongoing digital environment earlier this year, Anisimova described the experience plainly: “It’s basically constant cyberbullying—they comment on everything, constantly dealing with my body every single day.”
Beyond commentary on her weight, Anisimova has also had to deal with public criticism regarding her bust size, which is notably larger than the statistical average in women's professional tennis. She has since noted that she has moved past the commentary and feels comfortable with her physical appearance.
Recent Career Milestones and Grand Slam Runs
Amid the off-court scrutiny, Anisimova has maintained high-level performances on the WTA Tour. Last season, she advanced to the singles final at Wimbledon, where she fell to eventual champion Iga Świątek without winning a game. Two months later, she reached the championship match at the US Open, finishing as the runner-up.

Her strong form carried into the current season, culminating in a career-high ranking of No. 3 in the world before settling into her current position at No. 11.
