Banco Bpm has elevated its partnership with Pallacanestro Reggiana, stepping up from a standard partner to become a top sponsor of the Italian basketball club for the upcoming season. Under the renewed agreement, the banking institution’s logo will appear prominently on the front of the team’s official jersey.
A Strategic Upgrade for the Biancorosso
The decision to expand the sponsorship follows an initial one-year partnership between Banco Bpm and Pallacanestro Reggiana. Marco Vighi, head of brand identity and sponsorships at Banco Bpm, described the upgrade as a deliberate choice to support a serious club capable of enhancing its partners’ brands.
“The renewal is a conscious choice toward a serious company that knows how to value the brands of its partners,” Vighi said, according to reports from Il Resto del Carlino. He also emphasized the bank’s commitment to giving back to local communities, noting that the institution’s logo symbolizes a bridge connecting the bank’s historical roots with basketball.
Vighi acknowledged that the agreement is structured as an annual renewal in line with corporate policy, but pointed to long-standing sporting commitments by the group—such as a four-decade sponsorship of the Stramilano race—to illustrate their dedication to sustained partnerships.
Club Leadership Welcomes the Expanded Investment
Pallacanestro Reggiana leadership responded enthusiastically to the upgraded financial backing as the club prepares for the new campaign.
“When one of our sponsors not only relaunches but increases its support, we are super happy; it means we have worked well together and with a sharing of values,” stated Veronica Bartoli, president of Pallacanestro Reggiana. Bartoli added that she is very satisfied with the overall progress of the club’s sponsorship campaign for the upcoming season.
Broader Financial and Corporate Context
While the club prepares on the hardwood, the sponsor itself has remained at the center of broader corporate headlines in Italy’s financial sector. Recent reports from outlets like Milano Finanza have tracked high-profile developments surrounding Banco Bpm, including record operational profitability during the first half of the year, acquisition maneuvers involving Monte dei Paschi di Siena (MPS), and positioning regarding Crédit Agricole’s stake in the Italian market.

Despite these extensive developments in the financial markets, the bank’s localized sports footprint in Reggio Emilia remains firmly anchored through its expanded presence on the biancorosso jerseys as the club tips off its new competitive schedule.
