An unexpected travel hazard disrupted a professional football team’s journey over the weekend when a 17-year-old Moroccan minor was discovered hiding underneath the squad’s transport vehicle after crossing the Strait of Gibraltar, according to regional news reports.
The Journey and Discovery from Ceuta to Algeciras
The incident unfolded following a fixture between Real Valladolid and the local home side at the Alfonso Murube stadium in Ceuta, where the match ended in a 1-1 draw. Following the conclusion of the game, the Real Valladolid delegation prepared for their return journey to the Spanish mainland. According to reports from regional outlets, the team coach departed from the port of Ceuta at approximately 21:30 local time.
The vehicle successfully boarded a vessel to cross the Strait of Gibraltar, arriving hours later at the port of Algeciras on the Spanish mainland. However, the journey continued for more than 100 kilometers along the highway before a sudden series of distressed cries brought the heavy transport vehicle to an abrupt halt near Jerez de la Frontera.

Alerted by the persistent shouting coming from beneath the chassis, members of the traveling club delegation investigated the origin of the noise. Upon inspecting the undercarriage near one of the vehicle’s rear axles, staff members located the teenage stowaway.
Reporting from regional media indicates that the 17-year-old had slipped into the lower framing of the bus while it was parked in the port of Ceuta, remaining tightly concealed throughout the maritime crossing and the initial leg of the highway transit. Although the teenager sustained minor bruising from the cramped and perilous positioning near the vehicle’s mechanical components, he was found to be in generally good health.

Following the discovery, the travel delegation immediately notified local emergency and law enforcement agencies. Competent authorities arrived at the highway stop near Jerez de la Frontera to take the minor into custody and provide immediate care.
