The sports manifestation “Giocavamo pe’ strada” is relocating its upcoming weekend edition to viale Trento for September 19 and 20, shifting its focus from recreation to community revitalization. The event previously occupied the green spaces of Valle Faul following the Santa Rosa celebrations. Organizers and municipal leaders are moving the event to viale Trento, an area recently impacted by social degradation and fights, to establish a temporary sports citadel and a hub for social participation and legality.
Municipal Leadership and the Strategy Behind the Viale Trento Relocation
Mayor Chiara Frontini explained that the decision to relocate the event reflects the administration’s intent to heal urban areas facing challenges. Frontini emphasized that the initiative serves as a practical way to bring families and residents back to a neighborhood requiring focused attention and renewed community aggregation. Emanuele Aronne, the councilor for sport and wellness, strongly supported the shift, noting that the event originated under the current administration and is slated to continue for the next five years. Aronne stated that urban zones are not recovered by yielding to fear, but rather through positive encounters, rules, and structure. According to Aronne, sport provides an ideal framework of rules and togetherness to deliver a constructive message to the public.
Event Schedule, Activities, and Military Institution Involvement
For two days, viale Trento will host various athletic activities, welcoming participants of all age groups to try out different sports and watch demonstrations. Simone Bonolo, president of the Libertas Provincial Committee, outlined the daily schedule, noting that free public participation will run from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM local time, allowing citizens to test various sports firsthand. Afternoon sessions from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM local time will feature organized exhibitions by local athletes and associations. The lineup includes disciplines such as martial arts, basketball, baseball, roller skating, rhythmic gymnastics, and judo. In addition, the venue will feature a stage equipped with an LED wall, alongside a yet-unannounced surprise guest teased by councilor Aronne. The local military will also maintain a visible presence at the event. The Army Non-Commissioned Officers School (Scuola Sottufficiali dell’Esercito) and the Air Force Non-Commissioned Officers School (Scuola Marescialli dell’Aeronautica Militare) will participate by offering demonstrations and promoting values tied to discipline, training, and athletic development, with coordination overseen by Giancarlo Martinengo, councilor for relations with the armed forces.
