The Bádminton Huesca La Magia opens its second campaign in the Liga Nacional de División de Honor — Top 10 Iberdrola on Saturday, welcoming newly promoted CDB Huelva to its home courts at 17:00 local time at the club facilities on Calle Alcañiz. The club enters the new season aiming to push beyond last year’s third-place group finish and break into the championship playoff race.
Roster Overhaul and Returning Core
Club president Ricardo Constante stated during the team presentation that management has assembled a strong squad capable of competing at the highest level. The team retains three foundational players who serve as the squad’s core: Alejandro Gállego, Gonzalo Isábal, and Natxo Cervelló, a Valencian player who has long lived in Huesca.
To bolster that baseline, Huesca La Magia added several acquisitions. The roster welcomes Cristina Teruel, the national ranking leader who is training directly with the club, alongside Elena Dueñas from Burgos, who frequently attends summer training camps in Huesca. International additions include 23-year-old Czech player Sharleen Tallullah, ranked No. 115 globally, and 21-year-old English doubles specialist Robin Harper, who holds positions of No. 81 in world doubles and No. 128 in mixed competition.
Group A Format and Objectives
The División de Honor features a double-rounder group stage in Group A. Alongside Huesca and the newcomer Huelva, the group contains the Balearic club Pitius, Pontevedra’s Ravachol, and Cartagena, the winner of the previous league. Following the home-and-away fixtures, a centralized playoff venue will decide the eventual league champion and the relegation spots.
Club officials noted that the overarching goal for the season is reaching that final playoff phase, with aspirations within the organization of potentially hosting the championship finale in Huesca. While seven players form the opening matchday squad against Huelva, the club anticipates the arrival of additional international signings over subsequent matchdays, including Egypt’s Nour Ahmed Youssri Mohamed Latif, Tashvi Prashant, Portugal’s Sonia da Cunha, and Italy’s Yasmine Hamza.
Rule Changes and Scoring Adjustments
While team ties will continue to consist of seven individual matches, the scoring system for individual games has changed. Matches will now be contested over three sets of 15 points, requiring a two-point margin up to a maximum of 21 points.
Institutional Backing and Youth Structure
The club’s competitive ambitions are supported by institutional backing from the Gobierno de Aragón alongside increased financial contributions from private sponsors. Below the senior team, the Club Bádminton Huesca stands ninth in the ranking based on aggregate player points. The youth ranks feature strong divisional placements across Spain, including a second-place standing in the Under-13 category, sixth in Under-15, third in Under-17, seventh in Under-19, and fifth in the Under-23 division.
Ticketing and Attendance
To engage local supporters, club leadership maintained an accessible pricing structure for the home fixtures. Season tickets cost 20 euros for adults, 12 euros for youths aged 12 to 17, 6 euros for children, and 45 euros for a family pass. Individual match admission is priced at 10 euros for adults, 6 euros for youths, and 3 euros for children.
