The Hyundai Archery World Cup Final concluded in Saltillo, Mexico, drawing praise from state leadership following two days of elite international competition at the Plaza de Armas, according to regional reporting.
Governor Manolo Jiménez Salinas highlighted the successful coordination between local institutions and sports authorities that enabled the capital of Coahuila to host the global tournament. The event brought together the top 32 archers from 17 countries to compete across compound and recurve disciplines in front of local families and visiting supporters.
“When you work as a team and in a coordinated manner, you can organize great events like this World Cup Final,” Jiménez Salinas stated, according to coverage from El Tiempo.
Saltillo Plaza de Armas Hosts Elite International Field
Competition began with the official participant draw and opening ceremony on the esplanade outside the Government Palace. Matches took place over Saturday and Sunday, turning the historic center of Saltillo into an active gathering space for international archery enthusiasts.
Athletes traveled with their multidisciplinary support teams to compete in the season-ending showdown.
Mexican Competitors Secure Podiums in Compound Divisions
Local fans had a clear rooting interest on the opening day of competition as Coahuila native Dafne Quintero claimed a silver medal in the women’s compound division. Quintero advanced to the gold medal match before dropping a close contest to United States archer Alexis Ruiz, who secured the championship. Colombia’s Sara López rounded out the podium by taking the bronze medal.
In the men’s compound bracket, Austria’s Nico Wiener captured the gold medal, while Mathias Fullerton of Denmark earned the silver. Mexico’s Rodrigo González de Alba completed the podium by securing the bronze medal in front of the home crowd.
Recurve Champions Crowned on Sunday
Sunday’s schedule featured the recurve competitions, which brought the weekend tournament to a close. In the men’s recurve event, Dhiraj Bommadevara of India claimed the gold medal. Japan’s Junya Nakanishi took silver, and Turkey’s Mete Gazoz earned bronze.
The women’s recurve tournament concluded with Marie Horackova of Czechia taking the gold medal. Germany’s Katharina Bauer secured the silver, while Elif Gokkir of Turkey finished with the bronze medal.

Jiménez Salinas thanked World Archery for the trust in bringing the prestigious final stop on the international calendar to Coahuila.
