AJ Foyt Racing has filled the first of its two open seats for the 2027 NTT IndyCar Series season by signing reigning Rookie of the Year Dennis Hauger to a multiyear contract. The 23-year-old Norwegian driver moves from Dale Coyne Racing to pilot the No. 14 Homes For Our Troops Chevrolet, succeeding Santino Ferrucci.

Hauger entered American single-seater racing in 2025, winning six races and capturing the Indy NXT by Firestone championship as a rookie with Andretti Global. He then graduated to IndyCar with Dale Coyne Racing—where his rights were on loan from Andretti Global until Marcus Ericsson re-signed with Andretti in August. Hauger finished his debut IndyCar campaign with 228 points, taking 22nd in the championship standings and clinching the Rookie of the Year award over Mick Schumacher and Caio Collet.

AJ Foyt Racing Team President Larry Foyt highlighted Hauger’s history of rapid adaptation and success across various racing series. Before moving to the United States, Hauger claimed the 2019 Italian Formula 4 championship and the 2021 FIA Formula 3 title, won five races in FIA Formula 2, and spent a long stint as a member of the Red Bull Junior Team.

Larry Foyt said, as reported by INDYCAR.com. “Every time he’s moved into something new, he’s adapted quickly and he’s won. Coming over here and winning in INDY NXT as a rookie certainly got everyone’s attention, and then we watched how he progressed through his rookie season in INDYCAR.”
Foyt noted that the organization is investing in its personnel, technical side, and commercial program as it prepares for the future and looks forward to IndyCar’s transition to the new IR-28 chassis in 2028. AJ Foyt Racing maintains a technical alliance with Team Penske.
Sponsorship, Roster Implications, and Public Debut
The signing leaves the future of Santino Ferrucci uncertain. Ferrucci drove the No. 14 entry for the last four seasons and finished 17th in the 2026 standings. Although AJ Foyt Racing held team options for 2027 on both Ferrucci and Caio Collet, a team spokesperson would not confirm whether Ferrucci would return. Meanwhile, Homes For Our Troops will remain the primary sponsor on the No. 14 Chevrolet, indicating the sponsorship was tied directly to the car rather than Ferrucci.
Hauger’s public debut with his new team is scheduled for October 2 at the GM Defense Valor & Velocity Gala at the GM Design Dome in Warren, Michigan. The event benefits the Medal of Honor Foundation and features the No. 14 car on display alongside leadership from Hendricks Holding Company, Inc. and Homes For Our Troops, a non-profit organization that builds custom adapted homes for severely injured post-9/11 veterans. Attendees are expected to include Diane Hendricks and Konya Hendricks Schuh of Hendricks Holding Company Inc., alongside Gen. (USA, Ret.) Richard A. Cody and Brig.
