The Cagliari forward was driving his Porsche Carrera 4 through the northern outskirts of Milan at approximately 5:15 a.m. when the vehicle collided with another car at an intersection on via Caracciolo, according to police and news agency accounts. Law enforcement officials confirmed that Maldini failed the initial breathalyzer screening, registering blood alcohol concentration values of 0.91 g/l on his first test and 0.89 g/l on his second test. Italian legal limits cap permitted blood alcohol content at 0.5 g/l. Officers immediately revoked his driver’s license at the scene.
