RB Leipzig head coach Martin Demichelis is facing mounting pressure just two months after taking charge of the club. German media reports indicate his position is already under scrutiny following a difficult start to the campaign.
Demichelis Under Scrutiny at Red Bull Arena
According to reports from Bild and other outlets, the former Argentina international holds little credit with the club’s management following consecutive defeats. Most notably, these include a Champions League opening loss to Como 1907 and a 3-1 reverse against Werder Bremen.
Tactical Troubles and Summer Arrival
The 45-year-old manager arrived at the Red Bull Arena during the summer. He moved from Spanish club RCD Mallorca via a release clause, signing a contract running until 2028.
However, internal concerns have quickly surfaced. Questions center on the team’s tactical approach, particularly when breaking down deep-sitting opponents.
Defiant Stance Ahead of the International Break
With results failing to meet expectations, sources indicate that upcoming fixtures could serve as a decisive test before the scheduled international break.
Despite the growing speculation surrounding his future, the coaching staff remains outwardly focused on turning the team’s fortunes around. Speaking to Sky Sport Austria, Demichelis defended his squad’s trajectory, stating that the group will look like “a different team in a few weeks”.
Newcastle Circles Seiwald Amid Early Turmoil
The early-season turbulence at Leipzig has also placed individual squad members into the transfer spotlight. Austrian international midfielder Nicolas Seiwald, a core fixture in the club’s central midfield plans, has reportedly drawn interest from Newcastle United.
According to Sky, the Magpies are monitoring the 25-year-old midfielder. His familiarity with current Newcastle head coach Matthias Jaissle stems from their shared time together at FC Red Bull Salzburg. While formal negotiations have not materialized, Leipzig view Seiwald as an integral part of their plans.
Intensifying Autumn Schedule
As preparations continue for their upcoming fixtures, Leipzig’s leadership will closely evaluate the team’s performance under Demichelis.

The club has yet to issue an official statement regarding the manager’s immediate future. Yet, the pressure on the coaching staff remains palpable as the autumn schedule intensifies.
