Municipal planning documents confirm that the city has approved a technical and economic feasibility study for a 3.5 million euro outdoor facility in the Paolo VI neighborhood. Located in the stretch between Corso Buozzi and Via De Gasperi, the venue is engineered to simultaneously accommodate rugby, American football, and baseball. Once finished, it will stand as the first field in center-south Italy to integrate three overlapping disciplines onto a single playing surface.

Securing C.O.N.I. Clearance and Federation Backing
The infrastructure plan has cleared major administrative hurdles. Municipal reports show the initiative secured formal clearance from the Italian National Olympic Committee’s (C.O.N.I.) sports facilities commission. It also holds the backing of the national sports federations representing baseball, rugby, and American football.
The chosen site sits on municipal land within the Paolo VI district. For years, local club teams across all three sports have trained, frequently forced to adapt facilities originally built for other purposes.
Procurement Launch and Spring 2026 Completion Target
With feasibility studies finished, the project advances toward procurement. The municipal urban planning department stated that the initiative will serve as the foundation for a public tender covering the combined executive design and construction of the facility.
Construction is scheduled to begin by February 2025. Project officials project a completion date in the spring of 2026.
