Mexico will host the 20th edition of the Archery World Cup Final, bringing the global sport elite to Saltillo for a two-day competition scheduled for September 12 and 13, according to the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sport (CONADE). The tournament will gather 32 of the top-ranked archers from around the world, featuring eight athletes per category across women’s and men’s compound and recurv divisions, as announced during an official presentation by Mexican sports officials and World Archery representatives.
Saltillo Prepares to Host the World Archery Elite
The municipal and state infrastructure of Coahuila is gearing up to welcome the international archery circuit following coordination between CONADE, the Government of Coahuila, and World Archery Mexico. CONADE general director Rommel Pacheco Marrufo, Saltillo mayor Javier Díaz González, Coahuila state sports institute director Antonio Cepeda Licón, and World Archery Mexico president Gabriel Ramos Rodríguez detailed the event parameters during the official launch ceremony.
“Mexico not only has established itself as a world power in archery through the results of our athletes; it has also become an international benchmark for its capacity to receive, organize, and experience events of the highest category,” Pacheco Marrufo stated, as reported by CONADE. Officials emphasized that hosting the world tour finale reflects ongoing international trust in the country’s organizational capabilities and its competitive standing.
Mexico’s Roster and Defending Champions
Local organizers confirmed that the host nation will field seven representatives across the recurve and compound brackets. The lineup features reigning compound champion Andrea Becerra, alongside teammates Dafne Quintero, Sebastián García, and Rodrigo González in the compound events. In the recurve divisions, the country will be represented by Matías Grande, Ana Paula Vázquez, and Alejandra Valencia.
Both Grande and Vázquez addressed the media during the presentation, expressing their motivation to compete on home soil and harness the backing of local spectators. The athletes enter the Saltillo showdown following a demanding international calendar filled with World Cup stages and global qualifiers.
Grassroots Development and Nationwide Infrastructure
Beyond the elite competition, CONADE leadership pointed to domestic development initiatives designed to sustain the nation’s competitive pipeline. Officials outlined ongoing investments in talent identification processes and regional training hubs, highlighting new high-performance centers under development in Baja California and Yucatán.
“From CONADE we are very clear that to maintain and strengthen this sporting power we have to work from the base,” Pacheco Marrufo stated. The strategy focuses on expanding the youth talent pool to ensure current senior standouts inspire subsequent generations of competitors.
