During the previous season, Mbaye made 24 Ligue 1 appearances and featured in 31 games across all competitions, contributing three goals and two assists as PSG successfully defended both their domestic title and the Champions League. On the international stage, he switched his allegiance from France to Senegal in 2025 and subsequently scored in a 3-1 defeat against France at the 2026 World Cup, making him the youngest African player to score at a men’s tournament.
His summer also included success at the continental level. Mbaye was part of the Senegal squad that won the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations, appearing from the bench during their extra-time victory over Morocco alongside incoming Villa teammate Nicolas Jackson.

With his medical completed over the weekend, attention immediately turns to when Mbaye will pull on the Claret and Blue.
