Junior Bhavana Vinodh anchors the lineup at the No. 1 spot, followed by senior Shresta Narayanan at No. 2. Stepping up from lower rungs of competition previously, junior Aditi Bhat alongside seniors Jessica Huang and Hannah Evans step into major varsity roles to provide the Mountain Lions with essential depth this season. A fierce competitive attitude stands out as a core characteristic identified by Korman, whose primary goals center on claiming the Division I Desert Valley region title, earning a spot in the team state tournament, and obtaining favorable seeding for individual postseason play.

Meanwhile, Sunrise Mountain faces a stiffer test this autumn after shifting to play several Division I programs, according to fourth-year coach Missy Carter. Last year, the Mustangs posted a 12-2 record and advanced to the second round of the Peoria section’s Division II tournament. Carter’s lineup features returning varsity standouts Ruthey Figg, Delight Canale, Jaycee Carter, and Brea Escobedo. Having previously dealt with a torn ACL that restricted her practice time in the prior season, Kylie Puchta makes her return to provide a major boost to the roster, alongside Nora Brooks, who secured a varsity spot following intensive summer conditioning after being promoted from the junior varsity squad. Carter underscores that team chemistry and veteran familiarity will be crucial as the Mustangs target competitive matches across a demanding schedule and deep runs in the individual state tournament.
