Following their final roster cuts, the Philadelphia Eagles lost four players on NFL waivers on August 31, 2026. Offensive linemen Cameron Williams and Myles Hinton, tight end Cameron Latu, and safety Kapena Gushiken were all awarded on waiver claims, which the league announced Tuesday.
Four Players Claimed From Philadelphia’s Waiver Wire
The Philadelphia Eagles waived 26 players Sunday while establishing its initial 53-man roster. By Monday afternoon, the NFL released the waiver claims from all of the teams in the league, showing that four of those players weren’t available to return after being claimed by other franchises.
NFL insider Tom Pelissero tweeted a picture of the full list of waiver wire claims from Monday, which included four players the Eagles cut Sunday landing with other teams. No other team had more than two players claimed, leaving the Eagles with the most players claimed of any franchise. The Chiefs, Broncos, Cowboys, Panthers, Colts and 49ers had two each, while fifteen teams didn’t have any players claimed.
Where the Departed Eagles Landed
Offensive tackle Cameron Williams was claimed by the Falcons, offensive tackle Myles Hinton went to Cincinnati, tight end Cameron Latu landed with the New England Patriots on waivers, and defensive back Kapena Gushiken landed with Indianapolis. Williams and Hinton were a pair of 6th-round picks last year, and both Williams, Hinton, and Latu all spent time with the Eagles last year. Williams was on Injured Reserve most of the season before playing in the season finale against Washington, while Hinton was also with the team mainly on IR last year. Gushiken is an undrafted rookie from Ole Miss.
Latu, a former 3rd-round pick of the 49ers, had a strong summer and it was a little surprising the Eagles kept E.J. Latu played well in the joint practices in Foxborough, which surely made an impression on the Patriots. Latu played in 15 games with 103 offensive snaps and 256 on special teams, 6th-most on the team.
Waiver Priority and Unclaimed Roster Options
The Eagles weren’t awarded any players on waivers. Based on their record last year, they were 20th in waiver claim priority, as waiver claims this time of year are awarded in reverse order of last year’s record or the same order as the draft.
However, twenty Eagles from Philadelphia’s final round of roster cuts cleared waivers and are now free to negotiate contracts with the Eagles or any other NFL team, with an opportunity to bring back much of its training camp roster. Everyone else the Eagles released—including football newcomers Uar Bernard and Joshua Weru from the International Player Pathway program—cleared waivers, becoming free agents who the Eagles can now try to add to the practice squad.
The group that cleared includes centers Jake Majors and Zeke Correll, defensive backs Maximus Pulley and Cole Wisniewski, wide receivers Samori Toure and Tahj Washington, running back Carson Steele, and defensive linemen Gabe Hall and David Blay. The list of unclaimed players also includes John Ojukwu, Zion Wilson, Brandon George, Keyshawn James-Newby, Deontae Lawson, Jose Ramirez, Isaiah Bolden, and Jaylen Mahoney. Philadelphia will have some difficult decisions because there are more potential returnees than available practice-squad spots. Majors should merit serious consideration after spending the offseason competing for an interior offensive line role, offering developmental depth behind Cam Jurgens, while Correll provides another center option. The Eagles also lost Hinton and Williams to waiver claims, making retaining some of their remaining offensive line depth more important than it appeared immediately after Sunday’s cuts. Pulley is another logical candidate, having competed throughout training camp in a safety room that ultimately featured Andrew Mukuba, Marcus Epps and Michael Carter II on the initial roster.
