Free-agent forward Georges Niang signed a one-year, $3.9 million deal with Golden State. Of that total, 1.84 million is fully guaranteed, securing his base compensation upon joining the franchise, as noted by league reporting.

Brandon Williams secured a one-year, $2.6 million contract that carries specific roster benchmarks. The fifth-year guard’s deal includes an initial guarantee that triggers if he remains on the Warriors’ active roster for Opening Night. Furthermore, the contract establishes a second critical checkpoint on Jan. 7, at which point Williams will receive the full value of his agreement if retained.

Fitting Into the Warriors’ Rotation

Williams arrives in San Francisco after spending the 2025–26 campaign with the Dallas Mavericks. During that season, he logged career highs across 66 appearances, averaging 13 points and 3.9 assists in 22.2 minutes per contest. The 6-foot-1 guard provides backcourt depth for a guard-heavy rotation that includes Stephen Curry, Brandin Podziemski, Moses Moody, Will Richard, LJ Cryer, Gary Payton II, and De’Anthony Melton.

Niang brings extensive veteran shooting to the frontcourt. Over a 10-year NBA career spanning stints with the Indiana Pacers, Utah Jazz, Philadelphia 76ers, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Atlanta Hawks, Niang has shot 40% from beyond the arc. Though he missed the entirety of the 2025–26 season due to a foot injury, his career average sits at 7.4 points per game across 544 appearances. Niang also holds prior organizational familiarity, having played for Golden State’s G League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors, during the 2017–18 season.

Reuniting High School Teammates

The transition to Golden State will feature a familiar face for Williams. Williams and Warriors guard De’Anthony Melton previously played together at Crespi Carmelite High School in Encino, California, where they captured a CIF Division I state championship with a 33-5 record. Following the agreement, Williams shared a screenshot of a FaceTime call with Melton on social media to celebrate their reunion on the same NBA roster.
