Deshawn Stephens has officially signed with Dole Rimini. He is the club’s first American roster addition for the Serie A2 season.
A Global Resume in the Paint
Standing 203 centimeters and weighing 98 kilograms, the Los Angeles-born pivot brings extensive international experience to coach Sandro Dell’Agnello’s squad. He adds significant physical presence and rebounding power to the frontcourt.
The veteran arrives in Rimini with a well-traveled path. Born on October 9, 1989, Stephens attended Chatsworth High School before playing collegiately at Santa Monica and San Diego Aztecs.
His professional career tipped off in 2013 in Japan, where he played for the San-en NeoPhoenix and Akita Happinets. That launched a global journey that included stints in Turkey, France, Venezuela, Israel, Denmark, Bosnia, Greece, Romania, and Italy.
Deep Roots in Italian Courts
Stephens boasts 67 prior appearances in the Italian Serie A2 alone. His extensive Italian basketball experience includes past stops with Dinamo Cagliari, Fortitudo Bologna, Scafati, Dinamo Sassari, Pallacanestro Treviso, and most recently, Forlì.
At Forlì, he averaged 14.6 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. He helped secure the club’s safety during a crucial stretch. During his time in Serie A2 overall last season, he maintained averages of 14.3 points and 7.5 rebounds across 21 matches.
Endorsement from the Bench
Dole Rimini head coach Sandro Dell’Agnello expressed strong confidence in the acquisition.
“He has the technical and physical characteristics we were looking for in our team,” Dell’Agnello said. He noted that Stephens remains physically sound, highly experienced, and deeply valued as a locker room teammate.
Number 23 Takes the Floor
Stephens is slated to wear the number 23 jersey for Dole Rimini as the team shapes its roster for upcoming competition.
