Christopher Nkunku has officially returned to RB Leipzig, rejoining the Bundesliga club on a season-long loan from AC Milan with an included purchase option, according to club announcements.

The versatile forward arrives back at the Red Bull Arena to help offset the departure of high-profile transfer Yan Diomande to Real Madrid. According to club statements, Sportchef Marcel Schäfer moved quickly to secure the loan deal, emphasizing Nkunku’s deep familiarity with the club, the city, and the demands of German top-flight football.

A Decorated History in the Bundesliga
Nkunku originally arrived in Leipzig in 2019 following a transfer from Paris Saint-Germain. Over his initial four-year stint through 2023, he established himself as one of the league’s most dynamic creators, making 172 competitive appearances, netting 70 goals, and providing 56 assists.
He followed that up by helping the club successfully defend the domestic cup trophy the following season.
Interim Stints in England and Italy
Following his initial departure from the Bundesliga, Nkunku transferred to Premier League side Chelsea. His time in London was heavily disrupted by injuries and a lack of consistent playing time before he transferred to AC Milan in the summer of 2025.
During his tenure with the Rossoneri in Italy, the 18-time French national team player featured in 35 competitive matches across all competitions, scoring eight goals and adding three assists. Despite remaining under contract with the Italian giants through 2030, the forward opted to secure a return to familiar surroundings in Germany.
