The FIATC Girona announced the signing of Dominican guard Jassel Pérez to a two-year contract covering the 2026/27 and 2027/28 basketball seasons, according to official club statements.
Standing 1.90 meters tall and born in San Cristóbal, Dominican Republic, the 24-year-old guard transitions to Fontajau with extensive international experience across Latin America and Spain.
A Proven Resumé Across Multiple Leagues
Pérez’s professional journey spans several continents and competitive tiers since his debut in the 2021/22 season with the Titanes del Licey in his home country. He subsequently spent time with the Capitanes de Ciudad de México in the NBA G League, Spartans Distrito Capital in Venezuela, and Real Estelí of Nicaragua during the Basketball Champions League Americas, before alternating between Dominican and Venezuelan competitions through recent years.
European basketball fans watched his progression during the 2025/26 season when he signed with Coviran Granada, who initially loaned him to Grupo Alega Cantabria in the Primera FEB. With Cantabria, Pérez averaged 15.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per contest with an average efficiency valuation of 16.4. Coviran Granada recalled him in December 2025 to compete in the top-tier Liga Endesa, where he appeared in 23 matches and posted averages of 11.3 points and 3.8 rebounds.
Championship Momentum from Puerto Rico
Following the conclusion of the ACB calendar, Pérez joined the Vaqueros de Bayamón in Puerto Rico. During their run to the league title, he contributed 21.4 points, 4 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game during the regular season, followed by 18.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.4 assists across 18 playoff appearances.
San Emeterio highlighted that Pérez brings natural technical and physical traits that create mismatches in the open floor, particularly when attacking the rim. The sporting director also noted the player’s proactive defensive capabilities and continuous developmental trajectory over the past two seasons.
