The 2026 Latvian Rally Championship calendar will proceed without the traditional Cēsis rally after organizers officially canceled the September fixture due to external circumstances. According to the Latvian Automobile Federation (LAF) Rally Commission, governing bodies received and approved an application from Millers Motorsport to withdraw the event, which was originally scheduled for September 11–12, 2026.
Organizers confirmed that the event is postponed rather than permanently scrapped. According to Millers Motorsport head Māris Millers, the decision followed a thorough review of current operational conditions and future developmental opportunities for the competition. Millers stated that the organization intends to resume preparation work to stage a quality event that meets all regulatory requirements in 2027.
The Cēsis rally was slated to serve as the season-ending final round for both the Latvian Rally Championship and the Latvian Rally Cup. Additionally, the event was positioned as the penultimate round for the Latvian Rallysprint Cup, the Latvian Historic Automobile Rally Cup, and the recently launched Mārtiņš Sesks MRF Tyres Junior Challenge, a development program created to foster young rally drivers.
LAF Rally Commission head Raimonds Strokšs expressed disappointment over the cancellation of the Cēsis fixtures. Strokšs noted that while the decision is stark for the region’s motorsport community, the commission values the organizer’s commitment to returning to the historic Cēsis region in 2027. The LAF Rally Commission announced plans to convene a specialized meeting in the near future to formally review the application and determine how to structure the conclusion of the 2026 racing season.
