Rosario has taken a major step forward in its sports infrastructure ahead of the upcoming international competitions, officially inaugurating the Invencible Rosario arena within the Municipal Stadium grounds at Independencia Park. The new multi-purpose indoor venue is a cornerstone of the city’s preparations to host the Santa Fe 2026 South American Games, which run from September 12 to 26.
The facility was presented to the public by municipal and provincial authorities, including Javkin, during an opening event. Constructed with backing from the Government of the Province of Santa Fe and financial support from the CAF (Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean), the arena addresses a multi-decade shortage of large-scale indoor sports spaces in the region.
Infrastructure Details and South American Games Role
The Invencible Rosario covers a total built surface area of 5,300 square meters, including 3,500 square meters of covered space distributed across multiple levels. The venue features a permanent seating capacity for 2,400 spectators, which can be expanded by an additional 400 seats using temporary stands, alongside dedicated accessibility sectors for individuals with reduced mobility.
During the regional games, the new stadium will serve as the official competition venue for judo, karate, and artistic roller skating. It joins a broader cluster of athletic facilities in Independencia Park, which includes the Municipal Stadium, the Patinódromo Municipal, the athletics track, and the local Hippodrome.
A Legacy for Regional Sports and Urban Growth
Local leaders emphasized that the project was designed for permanent community use rather than temporary tournament hosting. Municipal officials noted that the facility, alongside the newly opened Invencible Arena, provides the city with two high-capacity indoor spaces that position Rosario to attract major national and international tournaments.
The inauguration marks the first time in 44 years that Rosario has added an indoor sports arena of this magnitude, following the infrastructure developments tied to the 1982 Cruz del Sur Games (today called South American Games). Officials reported that local sports associations and clubs have already generated significant demand for training schedules and court reservations.
