FC Bayern Munich has officially opened contract extension talks with star striker Harry Kane, according to club sporting director Max Eberl, as the England captain enters the final stretch of his current agreement.
The discussions regarding Kane’s long-term future in Bavaria were confirmed by Eberl on the sidelines of the Franz-Beckenbauer-Supercup. Speaking to broadcaster Sat.1 shortly before kickoff against Borussia Dortmund, Eberl outlined the mutual desire of both the club and the player to continue their partnership beyond its current trajectory.
“The talks have started. Now we’ll see that we get it done,” Eberl told Sat.1, adding that both parties have clearly positioned themselves regarding a prolonged stay in Munich.
Building on a Start
Kane arrived at the Allianz Arena three seasons ago in a high-profile transfer from Tottenham Hotspur for a reported fee of around 100 million euros. Since making the move to the Bundesliga, the prolific forward has maintained an exceptional scoring rate, highlighted by a 36-goal campaign in his debut domestic season.
The push to secure his services for the coming years follows public remarks made by Kane himself during the ceremony for the European Golden Shoe award, where he acknowledged that the timing was right to address his contract situation with only a year remaining on his original deal.
Internal Decisions Loom at the Board Level
According to reporting from Sky, the club’s supervisory board—including president Herbert Hainer alongside former chiefs Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge—is slated to evaluate contract extensions for both Eberl and chief executive officer Jan-Christian Dreesen.

Both executives currently hold contracts running through the summer of 2027. Addressing his own administrative future with the club, Eberl noted that the upcoming board meeting represents a natural checkpoint for his role.
“It would be my first extension at FC Bayern. I have always said that I want to do my job, that I want to do a good job,” Eberl told Sky. “And then, when people are satisfied, they will approach me. Now let’s see what happens on Tuesday.”
What Comes Next
With formal negotiations now underway between the club’s sporting management and Kane’s representatives, attention turns to upcoming board resolutions and the ongoing domestic campaign. Bayern Munich continues its fixture schedule while administrative milestones are addressed internally ahead of the club’s next official updates.
