Skyler Gill-Howard and Derrick Moore Anchor Defensive Front
Along the defensive line, Skyler Gill-Howard put together another high-motor performance following his strong outing against the Cincinnati Bengals. Gill-Howard consistently collapsed pockets against Washington, showing resilience against double teams and agility in one-on-one matchups. He teamed up with D.J. Having spent weeks on the roster bubble, Gill-Howard has strengthened his standing.
Meanwhile, second-round pick Derrick Moore returned from a groin injury that sidelined him for several practices and immediately established himself as a disruptive force. The Lions deployed Moore across multiple alignments, rushing him off the edge, moving him inside to three-technique, and utilizing stunts and twists. Moore logged a productive week of practice featuring multiple sacks and pressures.

The quarterback room has experienced significant shifts since the retirement of Teddy Bridgewater and the addition of Josh Dobbs. While Dobbs remains relatively new to the playbook, Luke Altmyer has consistently taken the field first with the second-team offense, earning praise from head coach Dan Campbell for his developmental promise and heavy workload in practice.

Amid uncertainty surrounding tight end Sam LaPorta’s injury status, Jackson Meeks emerged as a primary target for both quarterbacks. Meeks turned six targets into four catches for 33 yards and capped his performance by forcing a fumble on a late-fourth-quarter kickoff, strengthening his bid for a roster spot built heavily on special teams value.
Devin White and Tay Martin Press for Roster Spots
Linebacker Devin White, initially added following Jimmy Rolder’s injury, has continued to exceed expectations. White recorded three tackles, forced an early incomplete pass, and contributed heavily against the run.
