The sixth edition of the Trofeo Giuseppe Suplina and Memorial Dario Blasina will take place on Sunday, September 13, featuring a competitive FIDAL regional race, a newly introduced non-competitive event, and a dedicated fundraising drive for the Fondazione Burlo Garofolo, according to local reports. Organizers from Asd Running World Trieste, in co-organization with Asd S.Po.R.T. and main partner Edilgroup, have set an ambitious target of 500 participants to maximize charity contributions.
Event Schedule and New Non-Competitive Format
Running participants will gather starting at 8:00 a.m. local time at the sports field of ASD Junior Alpina Baseball & Softball, located in Prosecco, according to event details. The regional competitive FIDAL race kicks off at 9:30 a.m., followed immediately by the newly introduced non-competitive run, which is open to both licensed athletes and everyday runners.
This year’s addition of a non-competitive category marks a clear shift to broaden participation beyond elite circles. Organizers aim to draw up to 500 total runners across both brackets, creating a community atmosphere while driving direct financial support toward regional healthcare initiatives.
Charity Contributions and Registration Details
For every registered and paid participant, Asd Running World Trieste will donate at least 5 euros directly to the Fondazione Burlo Garofolo, as outlined in the event announcement. Hitting the 500-participant goal guarantees a minimum donation of 2,500 euros, though participants can freely add individual contributions above that baseline.
Advance registration remains open through September 12. Entry fees are set at 15 euros for the competitive race and a minimum of 10 euros for the non-competitive option. Runners can also register on the morning of the event, with on-site entry fees rising to 20 euros for the competitive category while the non-competitive minimum stays at 10 euros. Additional voluntary donations collected on-site or during advance registration will be funneled entirely to the charity foundation.
Course Layout and Terrain
Both events share a rolling 7.6-kilometer course split evenly between asphalt and gravel paths. Starting from the baseball field, runners head toward Borgo Grotta Gigante along an initial kilometer of fully closed tarmac roads before transitioning onto Karst trails that loop past the village of Villa Opicina.

The route returns toward Borgo Grotta Gigante before hitting the final kilometer and a half on paved surfaces, concluding back at the starting line. Organizers have set up an intermediate refreshment station along the trail, alongside a post-race refreshment area for all participants. The final non-competitive runner is expected to cross the finish line by 11:30 a.m., which marks the start of the competitive awards ceremony.
Post-Race Gathering
Competitors, supporters, and spectators can stay after the events conclude to eat and drink together. The ASD Junior Alpina Baseball & Softball will operate its on-site dining and refreshment services at the baseball complex, turning the athletic morning into a full social gathering.
