Terres Touloises Badminton has clinched a spot in the Nationale 2 promotion playoffs after finishing the regular season unbeaten in Nationale 3, marking a successful campaign for the promoted side from Gondreville.
The team, known as TTOUBAD, secured first place in their poule with a record of seven wins and three draws, edging out Colmar on the final matchday to earn the right to compete in the barrages d’accession scheduled for May 9 and 10, 2026.
“La saison est d’ores et déjà réussie pour nous avec cette première place à la clé. La montée en fin de saison serait un sacré exploit mais sûrement pas une déception,” said team captain Killian Manciot, reflecting on the achievement.
The squad’s success stems from a blend of local talent and experienced international players. Core members include the Massini brothers, Guillaume Bonnet, Valentine Bellott, and Manciot, augmented by foreign recruits Yakovlev, and Lavrova.
“L’ambiance au sein de l’équipe est top. Chaque week-end de championnat, nous les passons ensemble du vendredi au dimanche en partageant tout en commun; nous faisons tous partie de la grande famille du club de Gondreville et cela a un effet bénéfique sur le groupe,” Manciot added, highlighting the team’s cohesion.
Earlier in the season, Terres Touloises recorded a significant 8-0 victory over Besançon in Doubs, with the Manciot-Massini pair dropping only one set en route to the win. Sofiia Lavrova dominated her singles match, conceding just five points in a 21-3, 21-2 victory.
The club also hosted the Torneo del Capricorne in January at the Pierre-Roger gymnasium in Foug, attracting 250 players from 67 clubs across France, including participants from Brittany, Toulouse, Strasbourg, and Mulhouse. Tournament president Michaël Massini noted that several competitors were ranked among France’s top 300 national players.
Despite being newly promoted, TTOUBAD exceeded expectations by remaining undefeated in league play, setting up a high-stakes playoff bid for promotion to Nationale 2.
The upcoming barrages will determine whether the Gondreville-based side can achieve the rare feat of immediate advancement to the second tier of French national badminton.
For now, the focus remains on preparation for the May 9–10 matches, where a victory would represent not just sporting success, but a milestone for the club’s development.
