Judo Samurai Secures Podium Finishes at 30th Trofeo Uchi Oroshi

The Judo Samurai club from Jesi delivered a strong performance at the 30th Trofeo Uchi Oroshi in Reggio Emilia, Italy, with two of its young athletes securing podium placements during the competition held last Sunday.

The event showcased the depth of the club’s youth program, as Matteo Grilli and Elena Dolcimele navigated their respective brackets to bring home top honors in their weight categories.

Matteo Grilli Dominates Novice Category

Matteo Grilli provided the standout performance of the trip, capturing first place in the 46 kg male beginner (esordienti) division. Grilli’s path to the gold was marked by absolute dominance; he faced no significant challenges throughout the tournament.

Across three matches, Grilli secured three ippons—the highest score in judo, resulting in an immediate win—to cement his victory and claim the top spot on the podium.

Elena Dolcimele Shows Resilience

In the 57 kg female cadet (cadetti) category, Elena Dolcimele earned a third-place finish. Unlike the straightforward path of her teammate, Dolcimele’s tournament was a test of endurance and mental toughness.

After a difficult start to the competition, Dolcimele rallied to secure her position. She concluded her run with a “net and precise” victory in the third-place final, ensuring she did not leave Reggio Emilia without a medal.

For those unfamiliar with the cadet level, this stage of judo competition serves as a critical bridge between novice training and the higher-intensity junior ranks, emphasizing both technical precision and tactical maturity.

Strategic Expansion into Senigallia

Beyond the immediate success on the mat, the Judo Samurai organization is preparing for a significant growth phase. The club has announced the opening of a modern judo section in Senigallia.

Scheduled to become operational in May, the Senigallia expansion is intended to broaden the competitive, social, and educational opportunities available to young athletes in the surrounding region. Club officials noted that a promising group of young talent is currently emerging, suggesting that the club’s trajectory is on the rise.

The club’s success in Reggio Emilia serves as a momentum builder as they transition into their expanded operational footprint next month.
