Tay Tuu District Student Sports Tournament 2025-2026 Kicks Off with 200 Athletes

The Tay Tuu District Student Sports and Physical Education Competition for the 2025-2026 school year kicked off on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, with nearly 200 athletes from primary and secondary schools participating. The event, held at the Phu Dien District Cultural, Information, and Sports Center in Hanoi, aims to promote physical activity and holistic student development.

The tournament’s opening ceremony featured a flag presentation to participating school representatives and a student athlete oath, setting a tone of sportsmanship and dedication. Le Phuong Dung, Deputy Head of the Tay Tuu District Department of Culture and Social Affairs, emphasized the crucial role of physical education and sports in fostering well-rounded students. “School-based physical education and sports play an critical role in the comprehensive formation of students, contributing to health training, improving physical condition, developing intelligence, forming a healthy lifestyle, a spirit of solidarity, and the will to overcome difficulties,” Dung stated during her opening remarks.

This year’s competition features three core sports: table tennis, badminton, and athletics. Events are structured to accommodate different age groups, combining individual and team competitions to allow students to showcase their skills and build camaraderie. The tournament builds on earlier school-level competitions used to identify the most promising athletes from each school.

The initiative aligns with a national movement promoting physical fitness among all citizens, inspired by the legacy of President Ho Chi Minh. Dung further urged athletes to compete with honesty and fair play, referees to officiate objectively, and schools to continue prioritizing comprehensive student development – both physically and mentally.

Competition began immediately following the opening ceremony, with athletes vying for top honors in badminton, table tennis, and athletics. The matches were described as spirited and exciting, drawing enthusiastic support from students, teachers, and parents alike. A demonstration of Vovinam, a Vietnamese martial art, added to the festive atmosphere during the opening ceremony.

Beyond identifying athletic talent, the Tay Tuu District tournament serves as an evaluation of the quality of physical education programs within local schools. Organizers hope the event will contribute to the ongoing development of student health, well-being, and a lifelong commitment to physical activity. The competition isn’t just about winning; it’s about fostering a spirit of solidarity and honest competition among the young athletes.
