The Compagnie des Archers Mâconnais demonstrated impressive form and competitive spirit at recent archery competitions, achieving success at both the departmental and regional levels. The club’s archers showcased skill and determination, securing a championship title and several other notable finishes.
Departmental Double Mixed Championship – A Victory in Chalon-sur-Saône
On March 1st, the Départemental Double Mixed Archery Championship took place in Châlon-sur-Saône. The Compagnie des Archers Mâconnais sent several teams to compete, and the results were particularly strong. Eloïse Dorier and Evan Garnier excelled in the compound bow category, claiming the top spot and being crowned departmental champions. Their performance marked a high point for the club at the event.
Maryline Greffet and Artur-Louis Tinel also delivered a strong showing in the classic bow category, securing second place and earning the title of Vice-Champion Départemental. Another classic bow team, comprised of Ronélyam Masrabaye and Joulaibibe Daouadji-Charbonneau, participated and demonstrated commendable effort, despite not reaching the podium. The competition also provided valuable experience for a debuting mixed team of Marjolaine Colin and Johan Mary, who navigated the pressure of their first tournament with merit.
Regional Double Mixed Championship – A Test of Skill
The following week, on March 8th, Maryline Greffet and Alain Bourquard represented the Compagnie des Archers Mâconnais at the Regional Double Mixed Championship. The competition proved to be a significant challenge, with a high level of skill on display from archers across the region. Despite the difficulty, the Mâconnais duo competed admirably.
The regional championship was structured as a series of pool matches. Greffet and Bourquard faced teams from Montceau, Brienon-sur-Armançon, and Is-sur-Tille. Their first match against Brienon resulted in a 6-0 loss. The second match against Montceau was a closely contested affair, with the score tied 4-4 before a tie-breaker arrow was needed. Despite a strong effort – Maryline hitting a 10 and Alain a 9 – Montceau prevailed. The pair then lost their match against Is sur Tille 6-0, advancing to the classification rounds.
Facing tough competition, they lost their classification match against Paray-le-Monial and then competed for 7th or 8th place against Auxonne, ultimately falling short with a 6-2 defeat. They finished in 8th place out of 16 teams, a promising result given the level of competition.
The Compagnie des Archers Mâconnais expressed their gratitude to all the archers for their representation and dedication. As stated by Gérard Champion, “BRAVO and MERCI d’avoir représenté et fait honneur à la Compagnie par votre envie de réussite!” (BRAVO and THANK YOU for representing and honoring the Company with your desire to succeed!).
