Hannover – A moment of affection from former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder couldn’t have hurt the cause. Schröder, a former chairman of Hannover’s supervisory board from 2017 to 2019, was in attendance with his wife, So-yeon Schröder-Kim, whom he married in May 2018. Cameras captured the couple sharing a kiss before kickoff, a gesture that appeared to bring good fortune to the home side. So-yeon Schröder-Kim, a South Korean interpreter born in 1970, has been a visible presence alongside the former Chancellor in recent years.

The match was decided in stoppage time with goals from substitutes Shio Fukuda and Fabian Schleusener, securing the win for Karlsruher SC.
The result sees Karlsruher SC continue their strong form, while Greuther Fürth will be disappointed to concede so late in the game.
