The Gunners controlled much of the match, creating several opportunities before finally breaking the deadlock in the 36th minute. Eze expertly controlled the ball at the edge of the area and unleashed an unstoppable right-footed volley.
Arsenal doubled their lead in the second half with a goal from Declan Rice. Rice recovered possession, drove towards the goal and fired a precise shot into the bottom corner. Blaswich, the Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper, had earlier made several crucial saves to keep his side in the game, denying Gyokeres, Trossard, Rice, and Saka.
