Freie Schwimmer Rheinkamp: Rückblick, Ehrungen & Pläne für 2027

Rheinkamp, Germany – The Freie Schwimmer Rheinkamp swimming and sports club recently held its annual members’ meeting, focusing on reflection, recognition, elections, and planning for the future – most notably, the club’s centennial celebration in 2027. The meeting, held on March 14, 2026, also served as a moment to remember members who have passed away, including Dieter Frank and Hilde Ache, both long-serving members of the club’s leadership.

The club’s board reported on current projects and developments, highlighting the success of their participation in the “NRW kann schwimmen” (North Rhine-Westphalia can swim) program, which aims to teach essential swimming skills to children and young people. Continued investment in training for instructors was also discussed, ensuring the quality and future viability of the club’s offerings. Monika Huf addressed the challenges posed by limited pool availability, impacting several sports programs, but also noted positive developments, such as the relocation of the self-defense group to a gymnasium, providing improved training facilities.

Looking ahead to 2027, the board presented initial plans for the centennial celebration, which will include a variety of events and activities. Key components will be the creation of a club chronicle documenting its history, and a formal gala evening. Several working groups have already been formed to begin preparations.

The club is actively encouraging members to contribute ideas, energy, and organizational support to ensure the anniversary year is a memorable event for the entire organization. Every helping hand and creative contribution is welcome.

The meeting also included a recognition ceremony for long-standing members. Ulrike, Frank, and Mauritz v. D. Bosch were honored for 25 years of membership, as were Christine and Vanessa Precht, and Willi and Gabriele Conrad. Fabiana and Manfred Wrembel celebrated 40 years with the club, and Edith Kiehl was recognized for an impressive 50 years of dedication.

New elections were held, resulting in Dietmar Weyers being elected as the 1st Chairman, Monika Huf taking on a role in the sporting leadership, and Barbara Brans being appointed as treasurer. Gaby Lewandrowski, previously selected by the youth assembly, was also officially confirmed as the youth leader.
