INDIAN WELLS, Calif. (March 14, 2026) – World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka advanced to her third Indian Wells singles final on Friday, defeating Czech Republic’s Marie Bouzkova in straight sets and setting up a highly anticipated rematch with Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina. Sabalenka is aiming for her first title at the BNP Paribas Open, having previously fallen short in the 2023 and 2025 finals.
Sabalenka dispatched the 14th-ranked Bouzkova with a commanding 6-3, 6-4 victory. This marks the third time she’s reached the final of the prestigious 1000-level tournament, having previously been runner-up in 2023 and 2025. The Belarusian is seeking her first Indian Wells crown.
The final will be a repeat of the Australian Open women’s singles final from earlier this year. Sabalenka will face No. 3 seed Elena Rybakina, who secured her spot in the championship match with a 7-5, 6-4 win over No. 9 seed Jelena Ostapenko. Rybakina will be aiming for her second WTA 1000 title.
Rybakina holds a 7-8 head-to-head record against Sabalenka, but has won the last four finals matches between the two players. She secured her semifinal berth with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over No. 9 seed Jelena Ostapenko, reaching her sixth WTA 1000 final and her first in Indian Wells since 2023.
On the men’s side, top-ranked Carlos Alcaraz continued his impressive run, defeating Britain’s Cameron Norrie 6-3, 6-4 in the quarterfinals and carrying a 16-match winning streak into his semifinal clash with Daniil Medvedev. Medvedev advanced with a 6-1, 7-5 win over another British player, defending champion Jack Draper.
Alcaraz and Medvedev have previously met in the Indian Wells final in both 2023 and 2024, with Alcaraz emerging victorious on both occasions. The rematch promises to be a compelling contest.
No. 2 seed Jannik Sinner also advanced to the semifinals, sweeping past American newcomer Ben Shelton 6-1, 6-2. He will face No. 4 seed Alexander Zverev, who defeated France’s Adrian Mannarino 6-2, 6-3.
The women’s final between Sabalenka and Rybakina is scheduled for Saturday, March 15th. The men’s semifinals will also take place on Saturday, setting the stage for a thrilling championship weekend in the California desert.
