Badminton Tournament in Rosprorden Raises Funds for Medical Equipment | March 21st

Rosporden, France – The badminton club of Rosporden is set to host its fourth annual charity tournament on Saturday, March 21st, aiming to raise funds for La Petite Océane, an association supporting a young girl battling a rare muscle condition. The event, open to players of all skill levels, promises a day of friendly competition and community spirit.

According to Alexandra Concha, the president of the club, the tournament has become a fixture on the local sporting calendar. “This event is now firmly established in the local sports calendar. This doubles tournament (mixed, men’s or women’s) is open to both regular players and curious newcomers,” she stated. The focus, she emphasized, is on enjoyment rather than fierce competition. “There’s no pressure, no rankings to defend. The motto is simply to have fun playing. The goal is simple: to share a good time on the courts,” Concha explained. A shuttlecock launcher will add to the day’s entertainment.

Funding Medical Equipment

All proceeds from the tournament will be donated to La Petite Océane, a local association dedicated to providing medical equipment and support for Océane, a young girl living with a form of muscular myopathy that causes daily pain. The funds will directly contribute to improving her quality of life.

Adding a personal touch to the fundraising efforts, Océane will be present at the tournament, and her mother will be selling handmade crochet items. This provides an opportunity for attendees to support the cause whereas taking home a unique, handcrafted souvenir. “Océane will be present during the day and a sale of crochet items made by her mother will allow everyone to support the cause while leaving with a handmade souvenir,” the organization noted.

The tournament isn’t just about raising money; it’s about fostering a sense of community and providing a fun, accessible sporting experience. Prizes will be awarded to the top three performing doubles teams. “A modest refreshment area and a bar will be available on site to prolong the warm spirit of the event,” Concha added.

The tournament will be held on Saturday, March 21st at the Salle Omnisports Colette Besson, starting at 9:30 AM. Participation is open to individuals aged 16 and over, with an entry fee of €5 per player. Registration is required before March 14th. Interested participants can download the registration form from badminton-rosporden.jimdosite.com or contact the club via telephone at 07 80 13 57 72 or email at bad-rosporden@outlook.fr.

This event exemplifies the power of sport to unite communities and make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need. The Rosporden badminton club’s commitment to supporting La Petite Océane demonstrates a dedication that extends far beyond the badminton court.

Looking ahead, the Rosporden badminton club will continue to organize events throughout the year, fostering a love for the sport and supporting local charities. The success of this tournament will undoubtedly inspire further initiatives to benefit the community.
